Portobello is Edinburgh's beach resort located 3 miles (5 km) to the East of the city centre and along the coast of the Firth of Forth.  This area is a ten minute walk from Duddingston View Bed & Breakfast.  A pedestrianised promenade fronts the beautiful sandy beaches and you will also find an array of local shops, restaurants, pubs, fast-food outlets and banks etc. in the immediate vicinity.

DUDDINGSTON & PORTOBELLO GOLF COURSES:
 
Golfers will be delighted to know that there are two prime courses within the immediate vicinity.  Duddingston Golf Club is regarded as one of the most outstanding parkland courses in the Lothians, whilst Portobello Golf Course has Arthur's Seat as an attractive backdrop.

 

MUSSELBURGH RACE-COURSE:

 

Historic Musselburgh links has been a venue for horse racing since 1816, and has undergone a vast transformation in the past 15 years culminating in being awarded 5 Star Visit Scotland Visitor Attraction Status in December 2006.  The course hosts 25 race days a year, both flat racing and jump meetings.  Throughout the year they offer special entertainments so if you are looking for somewhere to entertain the kids, a chance to dress up, or just a different kind of venue for a night out with friends, then Musselburgh races is the place to be.  Journey time from Duddingston View to the race-course is 10 minutes (distance: 3.5 miles).  Please press the link for further information or to book tickets on-line.  Musselburgh racecourse

HILL WALKING:

Arthur's Seat is the main peak of a group of hills which form most of Holyrood Park, a remarkably wild piece of highland landscape in the centre of the city of Edinburgh.  The hill rises above the city to a height of 820 ft, providing excellent panoramic views.  This is a popular walk with both locals and tourists alike.  Distance from Duddingston View: 1.3 miles.
